crazy_skier_jules, sounds tough. Can't you persuade your school to organise a trip??
PGL does sound like the best option...but they aren't cheap

crazy_skier_jules, I hate to say this but I think you're going to have a difficult time because of your age, if you were a few years older I could probably have sorted you out a hotel room on half board for under £300 for a week especially as my stupid friends decided they couldn't afford to come skiing this year after first telling me they wanted to

Hi Julia. Elizabeth B knows this company much better than me (so as she hasn't suggested them, maybe they aren't appropriate), but they do run youth trips. Clive and Ruth that run the company are a lovely couple, their email address and phone number are on their website. While, the holiday company has a strong Christian-based ethos, being a Christian is not a pre-requisite of going with them.

crazy_skier_jules, when are you trying to get away, Christmas, Half term (which week), or Easter ? if you say when you can go maybe someone can offer some more suggestions.
I've just remembered another very cheap group who I've seen in the Wengen area of Switzerland Oak Hall they're another Christian group and I don't know if they'd take a single girl of your age but they might be worth a try, Lauterbrunnen might be good for you as the area ski pass is still half price for 15 year olds

DGO is right about Oak Hall, but they have a minimum age of 18 (unless travelling with an adult).
I have checked with Gold Hill and there would be a youth trip over Easter to Adelboden that unaccompanied 15 year olds would be welcome on. It would be about £420 including coach travel, full board accomomodation, ski pass, lessons and equipment hire. You can make a packed lunch each day as well, so you wouldn't need to spend anything extra over that initial price if you really didn't want to. If you are interested ring them on 01753 880753 as soon as you can as it is getting full.

I hope you manage to sort something out crazy_skier_jules, there sound like some good suggestions here although I know £420 isn't cheap when you're stuck for cash but then you haven't got yourself a cheap hobby! Good luck!

crazy_skier_jules, OK, been thinking about this driving to and from the airport this morning.
Here's three things to try.
1. Haut-Lac Ski School, this is just down the road from me, they do some language and skiing package, I think from your IM's this might be be pretty interesting for you. In fact, I'll probably see them sometime so I can ask directly for you.
2. SCGB and (I think) DHO run ski trips for young adults, don't know anything about it personally but you can surf around I guess.
3. Even though your school's not got a trip another local one will. Why not ask your school (sports teacher, form tutor or similar) if they can contact the local education authority and ask? You could do it yourself of course.

Ah - good thinking ise! The Ski Club of Great Britain do run holidays for under 20 year olds (14-19), without parents http://www.skiclub.co.uk/skiclub/holidays/under20szone.asp They tend not to be cheap however

Are there any dry slopes near you, Jules ? Where there's a dry slope there's usually a club, and where there's a club there's usually an organised alps trip or 2. Might be an avenue you could try ?

Ah good idea brian, that might just be a possible solution

There must be a family or group trip being organised for this winter that could find space (and a chaperone?) for a young lady of good virtue and questionable judgement (well she is associating with this bunch of reprobates). Some of the chalet owners here might find themselves with a bit of unused space and a seat at the table for a week. (within your budget)
Are you limited to non-term time Jules?

Think you might just be a bit screwed for next season. Skiing is ridiculously expensive even when its done "on the cheap", lift passes ski school etc really do push the price up.
When I was in first year of sixth form, which you will be season 06/07 if ive done my maths, we went on our own to Alpe D'huez for a week, we just needed a letter of authority from the parentals when we booked and away we went!! Could you organise a trip then? we went in the easter hols in the first year and half term the second year. Its tough, but either you need to jump onboard someone else's trip or shell out mega bucks for a pgl scgb trip!

No local ski club nearby unfortunately. ise, that Haut-Lac Ski School sounds well good. Language and Skiing coaching - sounds just like what I need!
I'll let all of you know if I find a solution! Thanks everyone!

Julia there are clubs not a million miles from you (e.g. Midland Ski Club do an Easter trip, by coach from Birmingham, with instruction/coaching included, so everyone has someone to ski with) - and you could always join one just to go on a trip. Age is a bit of an issue as if you went unaccompanied someone would have to agree to be responsible "in loco parentis" for you - or will you be over 16 by next April anyway?

Julia I'm sure that all of us wish we could help more, I suppose it's just possible that there might be an all girl group wanting another member to go skiing this coming season who might be willing to have you in their group, other than that I can't think of anything, but I'm sure that if any of us hear of anything that might be suitable we'll let you know.
Good luck

crazy_skier_jules,
How about some kind of ski course that provides accommodation too? When I was 19 I went on a course with the McGarrys and had a great time. Know I was a few years older than you, but the environment would have been fine for someone your age on their own. Don't think they operate anymore but I'm sure there must be similar sorts of courses around.

snowskisnow, great idea! I was wanting to come to EOSB but that and another ski holiday would be too much, however if I can just wait till easter I can have a great ski AND a great time - here's hoping it's in France, cos I can't speak German or Swiss... can't speak much French either, but I CAN ask for chips and an orangina!
ise, great! enjoy the beer

crazy_skier_jules, in Switzerland it depends where you are as to what language the locals speak, however 9 out of 10 workers in bars, hotels and even shops seem to speak at least some english so it wouldn't be a problem

crazy_skier_jules, I think the main problem is that big 15! From 16 it shouldn't be an issue. I'm sorry to hear your dad's so ill. In France a hotel/youth hostel or whatever has to be registered and inspected and have a certificate to cater for juniors on their own. If I have any brainwaves I'll let you know. Many of the summer camps cater for juniors on their own, but that doesn't help you - sorry.
