@thefatcontroller, No, they are putting the Coqs lift back! Not sure if this winter or next. Or to be more accurate a 'new' lift maybe the 'old' Montalbert chair on part of the route of the removed Coqs, probably finishing near top of La Roche lift... all speculation/rumour/fact from Romains site.

@Boredsurfing, good, it was ridiculous taking it out in the first instance Roche IMHO is to low a base station for a linking lift especially as from Montalbert it's down a track

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@stevew, lots of ridiculous decisions being made with the lift routes in La Plagne at the moment. They seem to remove a minimum of 4 smaller lifts to put one big new lift in

I assume this is to remove head count v capital cost? How many are needed to run a lift for 7 days a week?

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I always thought it was more to do with getting permission for new lifts meant getting rid of pylons of other lifts to make the view prettier / more natural

You'll need to Register first of course.

Less pylons but big new chairs seem significantly more intrusive to me and usually require a lot more earth moving. One of the advantages of Poma tows is that they only require one operator.

I think it's less contrived than that. When these ski stations came into being they wouldn't have the big picture with fully linked ski areas and all. They would have just been built up piecemeal. Now they are established as lifts come to the end of their life they can correct some of those anomalies. That's is my theory anyway.

A good point and probably a big part of the cost justification. I know it is on the long term plan for La Plagne but the whole Paradski/Montchavin/Les Coches area is a big mess for lifts. A good example of what you say, been built up piecemeal.

@Peter S, Indeed, of course there is the landscape "benefit" of removing 5 other lifts! The slag heap in the centre is reaching an impressive height
