Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hello I am planning on organising a large group ski Holliday for 13/14 season

There will be about 14 of us and we are looking for a ski in ski out chalet at one of the major resorts, ideally with sauna, hot tub, fireplace

3 valleys
Espace killy
Paradiski
Port soliel
Chamonix

Can anyone give me advice or reccommend any group Holliday specialist companies?

I am happy to book each aspect of the trip independently or do package

Just looking for a bit if advice

Cheers

Adabaders, welcome to snowHeads.

If you can give a few more details, like when/what level of skiers etc then you will get lots of ideas Very Happy The names you have given are mostly ski areas rather than resorts, do you particularly want a big name resort or a smaller resort within one of those areas?

We are a mix of skiiers and boarders some expert some complete beginner the main thing was the resort is to be well connected to a large area where there are a lot of pistes to cater for the different levels in the group

Adabaders, I can highly recommend La Tania. We had a similar group last year, and it worked perfectly. Not a 'banging' night life, but enough going on if you need it. Check out www.latania.co.uk . They list most of the companies who have chalets there.

It's easily connected to the rest of the 3 Valleys, and most of the resort is ski in/ out.

I personally did it independently, and it was fine.

Ski World are offering some pretty good deals for next year, maybe give them a call? I got an email yesterday with some quotes including everything at between £800-900 pp for the week.

I have heard good things about Ski Bonjour too, they offer you one free place for 9 paying adults. Ski Bonjour are based in Espace Killy. The cheaper places are in Tignes Les Brevieres which is supposed to be really nice, however not sure how suitable it is for complete beginners?

YSE is a tour operator with some very nice chalets for that sort of number but only in Val D'Isere - which would tick your boxes.

1) agree budget
2) get deposit upfront - no one is guaranteed til the cash hits the account
3) room configuration can affect cost - will people share? need own rooms? etc etc
4) Tour operator vs DIY

I organise a group trip each year - usually around 16 people. Our trip this year was to Morzine and it was agreed by everyone there that it was the best. We did it independently - I got everyone to book their own flights with EJ. The chalet we found (I'd stayed there before) then packaged up everything else for us (transfer, lift pass, accommodation) and I just got people to transfer money to my account bit by bit each month, which I then passed on to the private chalet owner. I gave everyone details of how to book their equipment, and they did it themselves.

It is as easy if not easier to go DIY than when we dealt with a travel agent - they still just want one person to be the money collector.

Chamonix won't have ski in ski out for the whole resort obviously (the areas aren't linked), and Portes du Soleil may well have ski in ski out but not much of that around the main town Morzine. However, in either of those two places, that was never a problem for us as I made sure we got a chalet that did minibus transfers around the resort at the beginning and the end of each day.

Nadenoodlee, gives good advice.

Be clear on the selected week, budget and standard of chalet people are looking for and defo get a £250ish deposit. Then go to the TOs and just book a holiday for maximum ease. Maybe give the gorup a choice between x and y chalet, but the less choice you give people the easier it will be.

I have found it tricky to find chalets with both hot tubs AND saunas in the past. Potentially you might need to look very up market for that.

I would say book with a TO rather than DIY for a group of friends to minimise the potential hassle of sorting out 14 people with alternative flights/transfer if something goes wrong while away.

kat.ryb, I agree, reduce the hassle and go for a good TO, you will find somewhere that will cater for all your needs. As said, the more choice, the more niggling. But it can be such fun having a big group of mates, who needs Apres, you have your own party!
