Could you recommend quick eating places between Annecy and Bourg St Maurice (via Albertville) with pasta and other child friendly food, ideally on the road itself or very easily findable (will have sat nav)?

truffaut, there's a huge retail park in Albertville, bound to be something suitable there.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

truffaut, the big "Centre Commerciale" in albertville (which is a very little way along the route to Chambery) has a good big Casino restaurant with lots of decent grub. And cheap. It's a tiny way off your route and very easy to find - after the roundabout where you would turn left for the Tarentaise, take the Chambery signposting and it's a couple of exits, about 2 miles.
From the Geant car park if you turn immediately right UNDER the road then follow signposting to the Tarentaise you won't have any trouble finding it.
There is also a service area between Albertville and BSM but I have no idea what the food is like. Never stopped there.

Hells Bells and pam w, many thanks - that's exactly what I was looking for. Also solves where to stop for supper on our way back the following week
Does anybody know if there is a place serving decent (takeaway) coffee within a 20 minute drive of GVA (hopefully will have a vignette) towards Annecy ?

There is a Mc Donalds Drive Thru and Restaurant in Bourg and Albertville and Chambery all near hypermarkets and cheaper Petrol/diesel.
(France has The most McDonalds restaurants outside the USA)

Thanks for the suggestion - however I suspect the cops would stop me before I got the coffee...

truffaut, from memory, the autoroute services does a decent coffee, and they usually have a machine to takeaway too. But it is over the French border.

Hells Bells, thanks that sounds the job. Made the mistake of buying a (thimble of) coffee and bacon roll at GVA last month without checking the price first...

I like McDonalds in France. The coffee is excellent and they have those McCafe sections now which also have good pastries, cakes etc. The breakfast is good too, a little trio of pastries, decent OJ and coffee. The salads are lovely and fresh and you can get a beer too It's very consistent too. I reckon there are worse places for a quick stop.

They also sell bread ham and cheese there. I remember a group of Snowheads being rather envious of our supper in geneva airport after a bash

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.
