Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Snowbird UTAH Conditions - What are they like.

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi everyone.

Go easy on me, I am new to this forum.

I am going to Salk Lake city on the 5th April 2013. I am planning to speak 2 days in snowbird (Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th April)

I am getting last minute jitters about snow conditions. Can anyone tell me what the conditions are like. I have checked historical snow reports etc but would be nice to hear it for a real person.

Thanks all

Bud

Hi Bud,

You may get an answer, but on here most folk are based in europe. Have you tried Epic or TGR who tend to be US based?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

It is pretty common for Snowbird to be open into June. Not sure how it's shaping up this year though

The snow this year is less than what it usually is.

I am reading on another forum about Snowbasin, just 40 miles north, and a bit lower in altitude, that snow is sugary at the base, hard packed on top, spring skiing conditions. Right now Snowbird have 80 inches of snow. I have skied Snowbird a lot (back in the day) and my experience is, in order for Snowbird to be rock free, they need a 100 inch base, after a 100 inch base, most rocks are covered. That is special to Snowbird because of all granite in and around the ski terrain.

Other resorts, such as Park City, are good at 50 inches.

Having said that, the last few years, they have had some bizarre weather and have gotten a massive dump of snow this late into the year, so that if happens, you're all good. At 80 inches, some of the runs off the tram may not be skiable, that is where most of the rocks are.

Anyway, it's beautiful, and I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself, speaking at the Cliff Club? Be sure and bring your swim suit, as their outdoor rooftop swimming pool is awesome. And the best part is, they aren't French so you don't need a funny french swim suit NehNeh

I have a timeshare at Cliff Club, and it used to be my old stomping ground, so I always kind of stay on top of the skiing conditions there, habit I suppose.
