Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Late April Skiing - where to go?

 Poster: A snowHead

Hi All!

My sister and I are trying to squeeze in a long weekend skiing from 25 - 28 April and wondered whether anyone could help with resort recommendations at this time of year.

In an ideal world we would like to stay somewhere fairly close to the snow, and a more traditional resort would also be great - that said, we know that at this time of year we will have probably have very little choice.

Any resort / hotel / accommodation recommendations will be very gratefully received.

Thank you!

I did exactly this for my 40th birthday last year.

Ended up going to Cervnia.

With Easter the first week of April, many resorts will be closed come 25 April - my favourite resort La Plagne closes April 20th - so your choice will be restricted.
Joining the SnowHeads EOSB is an excellent idea, but Val Thorens is hardly "traditional".
If you really want "traditional" and wish to be close to the snow, I would suggest Val d'Isere, Obergurgl, Verbier or Zermat.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Must admit I missed the "traditional" bit Laughing Zermatt would tick the boxes though I've only stayed in the town, a fair walk from the lift.

I wouldn't call Val D'Isere or Obergurgl traditional either. Lots of quite high rise stuff, way above the tree line.

Stay anywhere between Mayrhofen and Hintertux and ride Hintertux, may still be open all they way down to the valley at that time of the year.

Thank you everyone!

We're looking at Cervinia, Val D'Isere and Tignes - desperately trying to narrow it down based on flight / hotel availability.

Thank you again!

If you are looking at Cervinia, I recommend the Hotel Lac Bleu.

Just look at the trip advisor comments.

In Tignes there will still be a warm welcome at the Alpaka (English owned 3 star) - or if your budget can stretch to it the 4 Star Campanules.

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

Sorry, one more question:

If you're booking hotel and flights separately, what is the best way to deal with transfers etc?

Thanks!

depending on the details, the best way is often to hire a car.
