Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Getting from Zurich airport to Wengen

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hopefully this is in the right section.

I'm trying to work out the best/cheapest way to get four of us from Zurich airport to Wengen on Thursday. As far as I can work out, the train ticket cost is 85CHF each way which seems a hell of a lot. I'm tempted to look at hiring a car, but that seems a bit daft given that we'd have to park it up in Lauterbrunnen and get the train up to Wengen anyway. But if it works out cheaper it may be an option, I think the drive is about 90 miles.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what's the best way of doing this? I guess the Swiss transfer ticket is another option, but that seems way more expensive than I remember from last time I bought one.

jonm, The Swiss Transfer ticket will be less. It's currently £89 return and gives you a return journey from any Airport to any resort. You can get them from here:-

The last time I ordered one it arrived the following day.

Edit: Oops, I shpuld have read all you post first. I see you've already considered that. Embarassed

geepee, no worries Smile If we can pick them up at Zurich that'll be an option, not sure I want to chance waiting for it in the post.

Exchange rate is pretty poor at the moment, and won't improve any time soon. We started buying half-fare cards a few years ago - really helps if you do 2 or 3 trips a year.

geepee, thanks - they also do a "walk in" option so I will trot over to Covent Garden tomorrow lunchtime and pick them up, saving myself £8 Wink

(That should buy me 100ml of shandy in Wengen Smile )

Actually I have never found the beer in Wengen to be that bad - certainly in Lauterbrunnen that would buy you two "humpen" (and remember swiss small beers cost around 3/4 of the price of a large one). Of course if you do not want to be social and drink in your room then go to the Co-op where a tin of Weissbier (I know, weissbier in tins.......) is usually comfortably under a £1.
