So, I flew back with Lufthansa from Innsbruck on Saturday, and my skis didn't turn up when I landed. All bags were tagged correctly, and delivered at the right spot. I flew with 2 mates, and only 1 bag turned up in Oslo in total. After a frustrating time on the phone, they said that as I flew back to my home country, it could take up to 1 month before I can demand a replacement and they would cover the costs. 4...weeks...in...Norway....without ...skis. WTF is this?
They managed to trace a pair of skis that were in Vienna (of all places)...but the remaining pieces are missing.
Has anyone had this before?
What can I do?

It is fairly rare.
Slightly more common is skis not getting loaded at all because of lack of space on the plane - but then they normally arrive a day later.
And yes, there is an assumption that equipment taken on holiday is only required on a daily basis while on holiday, so you can't generally claim for equipment delays on the return flight

Lilledonmarco, have you explained the situation to them? I'd push them to cover any rental costs if I were you. Also try speaking to your travel insurance provider.

Though don't take the piddle with your purchases, just rent or buy what you need or the ins'co will drag their heels over everything . . . on one claim I made for a pair of underpants they quibbled and asked why I didn't just wash the pair I was walking around in
