Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

thinking of going there at the end of next January, is it mainly for older people? we are ok as we are in our 60,s but my son is forty, he will be going skiing, are there any bars at night with a bit of life?

We went in the low season in early March and it was fairly quiet at night. It may be a bit more livelier at the end of January. The livelier bars were the English pub in the Hotel Kaltschmidt and the Fiedermaus & Wildfang bars on the road leading from the centre to the train station. There is an outdoor iglu bar next to the Klosterbrau hotel but this was closed during our week. The disco bars Jeep/Western saloon in the Kaltschmidt hotel were empty whenever we looked in there.

To be honest Lynney, one of the bars (can't remember if its the Fiedermaus or Wildfang) was quite busy most evenings. A lot of the English ski instructors and quite a few locals drank in there. Don't forget i was there in low season and I'm sure end of January will be busier

lynny,

As jimmybog says (in perfect detail). I've just got back from my 3rd ski trip there, and have also done 3 summer trips. The nightlife is acceptable unless your son is a St, Anton party animal. It is an excellent resort for families & older people, not so great if he is an advanced skier as the skiing isn't that extensive.

If I remember correctly, lots of fur coats & mercedes kind of resort - a few nice enough pubs but not much of a "party" scene.

lynny,

It's quite a good place to learn to ski (which is why I keep taking the kids back). There are a few reasonable pub-like apres bars, quite a few 4/5 star hotels with piano bars if that's more your thing, and there's the casino if that appeals.
