I wish to replace the bindings on my blades with some release bindings (as I already have on my other 'magic blades') I Think I know how to set up the bindings but with so many different ones available on Ebay I'm not sure which to choose. Any advice on what I should be looking for in a binding or are they mostly the same?

Look for bindings with skis attached

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I discovered blades 3 years ago and being a semi-knackered builder in my forties with dodgy joints I decided I loved them! So much easier than my long skis and heaps more fun! Blades with release bindings are comparatively expensive s/h so have bought a pair with 'ordinary' bindings and hope to change them. This 'new' pair are for my other half, who has always struggled with full skis due to lack of practice as she prefers to look after the kids instead

Pam, my skis are 165cm if I remember rightly. I'm 5'10" and around 11 stone. I found that turning these skis hurt my knees rather than anything else. With blades, I can turn easily and now find myself darting in and out of the trees and lumps & bumps along the edge of the piste and even doing the occasional 360! I never had this much fun with my long skis! I'm not one for elegantly gliding down the mountain with neat orderly turns I find this rather boring. I can't see myself going back to skis...

xt600, it all depends what blades you have. Do they have a 4x4 insert pattern?

I'm not sure as I don't have them with me at the moment graeme. They're K2 Fatty boards, about 90cm.

xt600, if they have the 4x4 pattern you can use a spruce riser system and use any release bindings you want. Not sure if you can direct mount to k2 fattys

Ah, thanks for that, didn't know they existed. Where would I get a riser, and are they expensive?

xt600, would it not be less expensive to get some very short skis that have normal bindings already fitted? Atomic do some around 120cm.

that's a good suggestion. The "Wedze" short skis from Decathlon are also good, and very cheap.

You know it makes sense.

They may be good, but won't fit in my hold bag like my 99cm blades! I'm not into paying Sleazyjet nearly £60 each trip to carry my skis.
