Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Glacier in Tignes

Poster: A snowHead
Not quite sure where to put this question but recently I went skiing on the Grande Motte Glacier.

I was wondering how thick it actually is? On the Tignes Snow Depth it is merely 50cmish but then the crevasses wouldn't really be crevasses would they?

But what is question? Snowdepth which is 275 cm, or thickness of glacier itself which would be much greater but no idea what

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Sorry, my fault for not making it clear! Confused

I wanted to know the thickness of the glacier itself. Does anyone know? Puzzled

Snowisawesome,

I dug this up via google.fr From what I can understand between 30 and 80 metres thick ? in 2006.

http://www.haute-tarentaise.net/t51-tignesl-avenir-du-glacier-de-grande-motte

PG : Je sais que ça varie… mais quelle est la profondeur moyenne du glacier ?

JLT : Il y a de 30 à 80 mètres de glace.

With my low level translating I also think he says it's losing 2.5m a year ? but has lost more in the past ?
