Poster: A snowHead

I don't venture out the bar much, so please talk in really really simple language
As my boys have decided to switch to the dark-side this year, I did promise to give it a go as well. Now my board has been up in the loft for last 8 years, base looks fine but the edges are as dull as a dull thing.
Simple solution - drop it off for service, but now have no time between now and going!
Simple solution 2 - drop it into shop day we arrive - in all probability may well do that!
But! Is it possible, easy, just to give the edges a sharpen myself? I am just a very average occassional boarder so just want a slight edge.
What's recommended?

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

You need to Login to know who's really who.

Leave the board as is and claim that you've spent 8 years detuning your edges and present yourself as "King Boris, Lord of the Rail"...
...or get the damn thing serviced.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Overinght service in resort, drink beer (in a non-virtual bar maybe?) while it's being done, pick up in morning.

it's pretty easy to do the edges yourself. You can get edging tools in any ski shop for a few quid. I usually use one of them to take the dings out, then sharpen the edges with the same whetstone i use for sharpening knives/chisels etc.
