Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

scotland road trip

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
We are looking to get to scotland for a few days in mid Feb.

We haven't skied in scotland before and were planning on trying almost all the resorts out over 4 days. Glenshee, Aviemore, Nevis range and Glencoe.

I know conditions aren't guaranteed, but in Mid Feb are they all likely to be open, with at the least some runs available?

Thanks

No guarantees in Scotland. Ive been to Nevis Range in feb and found no snow and two feet of powder in consecutive years. Take or hire mountain bikes then you can have downhill fun whatever the conditions.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Good idea, ill take my bike, my mates may have to hire. Do the Scottish resorts have lifts that carry bikes?

The Gondola should be big enough at Nevis Range to take you up to the Snowgoose restaurant but not sure about the other lifts to get you higher up the mountain might be mostly drag lifts but to be fair the top of the gondola is high enough.

I would be amazed if they let you take your bike on the nevis range gondola when neither of the tracks from the top are officially open

If you like steeper skiing get someone to show you the back at Nevis (Main bowl is a un-groomed piste plus there are off piste descents). Even if the Braveheart lift isn't working and you don't fancy walking half way up it you can still get some good runs in.

Don't wait. Go now when the going is good!

further update - Even with 1 foot of snow reported elsewhere in UK the Scottish resorts can only manage to open about 1/3 to less than half of the lifts today.

Nevis range gondola actually has bike racks but they might not let you put them on at this time of year. Try the website. Maybe if you want to go down you'll just have to peddle up. No bad thing, apparently it's the same muscles you need for skiing.
