Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Resort suggestion for a family of beginners

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
My cousin and her husband have decided to take their 7 year old daughter skiing next season, for the first time for all of them.

Any suggestions of resorts good for beginners on a low budget? Obvious requirements; good nursery slopes, greens and possibly blue. Good lessons as they are all beginners. Family centric apres ski.

I was thinking possibly Andorra, but I read reports of bad snow and for their first experience that would be quite tragic. Also Bulgaria, but I've read that the food can be pretty bad.

None of the places I ski suit all their requirements, hence me asking the Snowheads massive!!

TIA

We did Arinsal as beginners with similar aged kids (7 and 5 I think.) It got us hooked for life. They have enough snow blowers to keep a first time family entertained for a week, mostly English instructors. Didn't do much apres that week cos we all slept from lifts closing to lifts opening. Free kids passes for under 12's as well.

Puy St Vincent with Snowbizz gets very good reports here. Timing is a problem. If they can't take the 7 year old out of school I think I'd go for Christmas - cheaper and less busy than New Year or half term. Easter is late next year, unfortunately.

We always went in school time when the kids were that age, with the blessing of the head teacher. She reckoned they would get more life experience in a week skiing than a week in school. She did report a few families for going on a sunshine holiday in the last week of June while school was still on, so she wasn't completely soft. First week after the new year was favourite. Cheapest TO week and everywhere was empty.
