Poster: A snowHead
|
Just happened to find this:
Combination chairlift + t bar on a common cable
Location of lift: La Hoya ski area, near Esquel, Patagonia. Here's where it is (Argentinian Patagonia).
Anyone know this place?
It's briefly described on this blog on doglotion.com. The rest of the blog is worth a look for other ski locations in South America.

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

The surface lift is only for the use of headless people and their guides.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Never mind the headless personlampbus, someone ought to tell the one on the chair his fly's undone.

Isn't a 'chondola' a smelly gondola that induces Antipodean style projectile vomiting ?

Oh hell don't give Glenshee any ideas, the Tiger T-bar is bad enough as it is with a mix of t-bars and buttons... line up with 2people turn round and grab a button!

If those two on the 'T' Bar let go, that guy on the chair will be able to sing in a boys choir again!

Skied La Hoya this summer.
It is now my favourite mountain in S America and I've skied a few (Antillanca, Portillo & Termas de Chillan in Chile; Caviahue, Cerro Bayo, Chapelco, La Hoya & Las Lenas in Argentina).
Las Lenas has everything that La Hoya has in spades, but when the Martes lift is closed then it becomes a very average mountain. And the lift is closed quite a bit.
La Hoya is laid back, has fabulous in-bounds terrain and easy hike to / traverse to out-of-bounds terrain. Very good snow record and a real town - Esquel - nearby. And it cost us £6 a day to ski. The snow was fantastic and it hadn't snowed in 5-days, plenty of untracked to be had.
If you're heading down to S America then make it to La Hoya.
