Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Where to find appartments or chalets for weekend

 Poster: A snowHead

I am sure this has been asked before but I could not find it. Are there sites that list apartments or chalets that are available for weekends?

I'm looking at France this time but it would be useful for future.

Thanks

Hi there,

Are you looking for catered or self catered if so check this out maybe: http://www.chaletfinder.co.uk

If you want to rent straight from the owners maybe try this: http://www.ownersdirect.co.uk

Haven't tired the 'chaletfinder' myself but a few years back we rented a place from a nice family in Meribel using ownersdirect.

Hope this helps,

ZP

Mike-H, you could also as on Chalets Direct. I do let my apartment out for short breaks, usually a minimum of 3 nights. There are other apartments in my residence that are sometimes available for short breaks too.

Thats a great start. Thank you. I have seen hotels but I quite enjoy leaving the slopes, couple of beers and back to chalet to chill in my relax gear. Jeez i'm getting old.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Mike-H, In addition to the suggestions above (Chalets Direct should be particuarly useful) we can sometimes do short breaks and have some space from 16th March if any help? Drop me a PM if so

There is a thread going in Trip Reports al about how to do a weekend, good info there.

Mike-H, if you make sure that you miss most of Feb and the first two weeks of March, you'll generally find it pretty easy to book somewhere for a weekend, but even easier if you do a Sunday to Wednesday or Wednesday to Saturday, as you book half a week instead, if you see what I mean.

Out of the peak weeks basic accommodation in most French resorts can be found very cheaply. It's a minor part of the holiday expense, compared to flights, transfers, ski passes etc. It's certainly worth booking a week's accommodation and then only using part of the week, if you can't get the time off to do a whole week (which is, of course, far cheaper per piste-mile).

It's also really not difficult to stay somewhere like Sallanches and drive - a range of excellent resort options close by.

It's worth trying owners direct.

Although we normally only do weeks, if there is a quite period in Jan or April, I have done it. Worth a few prospective emails anyway. I imagine Feb and March would be difficult for most renters as it is too easy to fill up for a week.
