Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Cynic, I'd always opt for taking mine to a three degree angle. You don't notice any difference until you start hitting real hard pack and grey ice. It's your base angle which determines how quickly the edge engages as you edge the ski. Most people like 1 degree, I prefer 0.75.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Cynic, If you want some Full World Cup Downhill skis ready to go let me know. Have a lot of Atomic 215's for sale. All direct from the Atomic factory and fast! All at 87 deg edge angle and 0.5 base angle. PM me if you're interested.

My SG skis are nowadays set to 5 degrees on side (had to change my old file holder, and got new one from friend, and since all his racers skis are 5 degrees, he had just those, so all my skis are now 5 degree on side), and 0.5 on base. I guess SG skis could qualify as DH skis for "normal" people Smile Side angle doesn't really matter for normal skiing, and noone will notice if it's 3 or 5 or even more. Only difference is, that on injected courses, 5 or 6 degree works better, but it also lasts less. For normal snow, noone will see difference, even top WC racers.
Base angle is different. And for SG skis, I rather have a bit more space (my SL and GS skis are set to 0.2), since last thing you would wish is for ski to hookup at 120km/h, when going straight Wink But thing is these angles are pretty small, and skis catch edge really fast, so normally I would suggest bigger (at least 0.5, but more likely 0.75-1 degree) for normal, non-racing skiers.
