So I just bought a set of K2 Coomback twin tip skis and I am now on the hunt for a good set of bindings? Ideally I don't want to spend more than £150 on the bindings... Any suggestions?

pow1985, err... Coomback's aren;t twintips, they have a flat tail.
If you're not touring on them (which is the reason to buy them over the normal Coomba's) or hucking big stuff, which bindings you have doesn't matter a huge amount. What DIN setting do you need?

Marker Baron, height, weight, cachet, bit like a classic car hold their value. S/H just about your price.

I bought these coz I thought they sounded like a good off-piste ski and I prefer to ski off-piste as much as possible. Having said that I get to 95% of my off piste runs with the help of a chair lift and a bit of traversing so I won't be using a Touring boot/binding on them. Do you think this is the wrong ski for me? (The order is still processing so not to late to cancel)

They are great skis. They do flap a bit on the hard piste, but that's the only negative. Blizzard Cochise are better all round, imo. but cost more.

Cynic, Would like to state he was suggesting the Baron and it’s probable S/H price rather than selling a pair (surprisingly)

They will be just right for that, get on the fronts on piste to stop the "rocker flap", what length are they? If you do not like them I will buy them from you if long enough .

pow1985, Coombacks are the new version of the coombas just with a bit of tip rocker
to put your mind at rest here is a review comparing the old to the new from realskiers
Upgraded with good results.
"Carves easily on firm snow, floats over bumps, drives through crud."
"Does not like short radius turns; a versatile soft snow ski."
K2 was arguably one of the major players, along with Warren Miller, TGR and start ups like Line (now a K2 co-brand) that drove free ride to the fore; the Coomback is an excellent example of why.

I have Coombaks as my off-piste ski for lift or boot pack. Previously I've Apache Chiefs (sort of ancestor of the Coombak). I use a small and narrower ski for touring, which means I can have the Coombaks a bit longer -- so more fun in the pow. The go well in the bumps too, and are fine and fun on the piste. Mrs Ski uses Gotbacks (feminine Coombak) and loves them too.
You can go smaller/narrower in the K2 lline (Backside ?) or wider (Darkside ?) -- but for me the Coombak does all I need for a non-touring ski.

I thought they stopped making the Coombas?
And hell no, the Coombacks certainly aren't twin tips! I'm told that Coombs hated twin tips so much he would cut the backs of the ones K2 gave him with an angle grinder!
Tend to agree that DH binding are much of a muchness, just get the lightest you can find for the DIN you need. Happy to be corrected if there is some special binding out there that I'm not aware of

Thanks everyone for the advice /reassurance... So while I am learning, what are the advantage of having twin tips over a flat tail on your skis? Are twin tips purely for the jump park or were they designed to have some benefit for conventional skiing?

No, sounds like a good ski for what you describe, obviously depends on how/what you like to ski too though.

Going backwards - that's it. Personally though I don't really do park I like at least a half twin, helps a little when billy-goating around/sliding backwards to get to a good position for the next turn on steep and technical terrain - the tail won't dig into any lumps of snow. Others don't like twins as it's harder to jam the skis into the snow to create an anchor.
