Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Apex Boots

Has anyone used them? heard of them? They seem quite expensive, but sound like they are easy to wear with no loss of performance.

Is this just advertising guff?

There is a thread about these on epicski the general opinion seems to be that they need to make them in a variety of widths, IF they fit your foot great if not then you are left padding them out somehow. Seem to be quite a low flex. I have not tried them myself.

Tried a prototype - didn't fit. Liked the idea/design tho'.

Like the design, and if they are comfortable, but only if they perform, and the flex was a concern for me. I will have a read on epicski. Cheers.

They look utterly dreadful. I can't see the point in them at all.

zammo, the point is that you can take the boot out of the frame and walk about in it like a snowboarder. Obvious, no?

zammo, I quite like the look, but I'd want to hear about how soft they are when flexing forward.

Mosha Marc, Agreed, but if it is Carbon Fibre, it should not flex?

Really wouldn't mind giving them a go, there's no reason they shouldn't work in recreational skiing or as a snowboard boot. For someone like me they could be a godsend. But a lot of testing first. In theory they could even make it telemark compatible. . . interesting Confused

but not @ 800 - 1500 Dollars Shocked Shocked Shocked

Masque, if they were more affordable I would be real interested in trying them out too, I struggle not to do myself a mischief just getting my boots on, never mind walking in the damn things! They look comfy for sure and I ski for fun so softer flex is unimportant to me.

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

lilywhite, With me it's more of a 'One Boot to Rule Them All' situation. I alpine, telemark and board and like to vary those as the butterfly in my head flutters around the empty space. I'm getting close to it with my skis and binding combination and to be honest, with some development this type of innovation could be just what I need to be able to travel lightly and play on whatever I wanted whenever I wanted . . . and in that sense then yes, that's not a lot of money to replace 3 pairs of boots. But I wouldn't buy them 'on spec'.

For those curious here

Lizzard, it wasn't meant to sound as outrightly sarcastic as it ended up sounding. They are naffing exepnsive, though.

zammo, true, and I suspect they're the sort of compromise which doesn't perform well as either a ski or a board boot. Have to try these newfangled ideas though.

Just bought the apex mc 2 model for a wopping 1145 dollars (inc. delivery here in italy) had a bash in them last year from friend over from the usa, the best boot I've ever worn for recreational skiing, can't feel the difference between them and my head edgeadapt 110's...firm flex, up on to the ski edge no problem and they are SOOOO comfortable! !!! If you are looking to push speed to the max or some serious race ski these are not for you (I switch to my Head Raptors if I want to try and set a new speed record!!) But if you like the whole mountain and cruise/carve at an upper intermediate level you will not notice any performance difference other than you never get cold or aching feet!,,,,,,,, Very Happy Very Happy
