Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Courchevel is only for the Rich?

I don't know if anyone saw this in Courchevel or if it has already been posted but earlier this week was the subtly named "Millionaires Cup". The subtitle on the event page was "Flashy Ski Racing".

I love the idea of this that there is a ski race aimed specifically at people who are quite happy to blast €200 on a single run down a GS course or spend €100 for their kids to do it. I also hope that some ex pro would have turned up, spanked everyone and collected the prize money much like a pro poker player might head down to a casino in Monte Carlo to take the millionaires money.

Wonder what the prizes were? bear skin hats, yeti fur jackets? a ferrari?

Timed appropriately for Russian Christmas and New Year. Prizes probably a 2.5 kilogram watch from one of the surrounding boutiques.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Just noticed the contact email " nastya.newliga@... " which a quick Google links to Russian FIS pages, so definitely one set up to fleece our Prada/Bogner loving friends.

Perhaps Depardieu will take part next year..?

200 euros is not the kind of money that will make a significant difference to a large part of the skiing public and many would pay 100 to watch their kids race. It's not going to break or make the bank.

Skiing is only for the rich, it is now catered at various levels for everyone. So flying in to the Altiport, with your luggage coming by courier, staying in an 1850 supreme hotel, race and leave probably £10,000 for the day, rather like a organised trip for the Monaco GP taking in post race ball.

Cynic, you forgot get nicked and deported. If you really want to see them spank money, get someone to put a Franco/Russian 'get out of jail free' card up as a prize in that race, you could raise the entry price to EUR20,000 and still have no places left.
