Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

First trip to 3V and Meribel-Mottaret. Picking between Residence Vanoise (Le Laitelet, 100m from the slope) vs Residence Ruitor (down at the bottom next to the tourist office). Same price, just need to pick one. Any advice?

I think place in the centre next to the tourist office would be much better if you want to go for a evening walk or visit some bars or restaurant (not that there are many anyway). And you are close to all the major lifts without the need to ski down and similar - up in the afternoon.
We stayed in the fairly central apartment but a "two blocks up the hill" and the walk was already quite tiring.
I would def go for a central location for the convenience and you will be less worry where to finish you day without planning how to ski down to Le Laitelet.
On the other hand you might get more for you money in Le Laitelet.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Thanks for suggestion, we decided on Res. Vanoise in Laitelet after all based on the pictures. I am amazed that humongous building right at the bottom of the hill (Res. Ruitor) has not got any reviews on this forum, at least I was not able to find any. Anyhow, based on their pictures it looked a bit more rustic for my taste. Any point in ordering 3V tickets ahead? The agency price for our mid-February trip is 240E for a week, hardly any discount...Also what about ski hire through the agency - what's the going price for a mid-tier ski/boots/poles set in in the village? Thanks.
