Chatty 8 year old on the chairlift asks me what I'm into. I mumble a bit about powder and soft bumps. He tells me he's into cliffs despite the fact that he's on the race team and that one of his mates can already pull backflips in the park. he then tells me he really likes his coach because he trusts them and points to a gnarly chute that he's already done twice this season in ski club....standard gatebashing it ain't.
For my last run of the day I fail to arrest a slide with my skis, kick em off and plough a nice furrow down a bowl with my chin before finally punching in enough to stop

I once struck up a conversation with a little French girl on a lift. I asked her how old she was (7) and she asked me the same question. When I told her she stifled a giggle. Then she said "My grandmother is only 55" (ie quite a bit younger than I am). I was just digesting this when she added "and she's dead". We didn't go on to discuss our respective skiing prowess.

You wear mechanical aids such as knee braces or foot orthotics, you have to start taking prescription medicine for some new ailment and you need to eat vitamin I whenever you ski....

Anyone else think kids should be banned from the lifts till at least 18? Just let them play on the bunny slopes!

As they(?) say about the 60's...if you don't have to ask then you obviously weren't there 
I skied with both my kids this year, and for the mushette it was the first time. I was so proud of her managing to get down the mountain from the top to the bottom without any real difficulties (we stopped and laughed at the tracks where junior left the piste and tried to invent his own way down). As for her monkey of a brother, if he skies any faster than that next year then he will be on his own!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
