Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ski hire in Alpe d' Huez

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Off to Alpe d Huez in a few weeks time and have decided not to bother taking my five year old skis as the carriage charges are increasingly exorbitant, so will need to hire some in resort. Think we are staying in the centre of the main town.

Can anyone recommend a good hire shop with decent gear or are they all much of a muchness?

Thanks

norm, try Nevada Sports, Beregers (by pistes and lifts in centre of ADH).

They had plenty of gear, were friendly and efficient - used them as a result of a personal recommendation 3 years ago.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

norm,
To be honest it more depends on where you are staying, if you are staying nears Bergers then yes go for Nevada Sports but there are at least 4 others in the same shopping arcade, if you are staying near the top of the the town then there are plenty more there, more in the old town by the tourist office and even more in Eclose. I personally like Rocky Sports in Eclose but I do know the guy who runs it, he is a Sport 2000 "franchisee / dealer". but still independently owned. You should get a good discount outside French school holidays from any of them. there is plenty of competition then. If you were staying near Bergers you would not really want to hire skis in Eclose though imho. I have had a good experience with Sarenne Sports at the top of the town, hired some skis from him when the glacier used to open in October half term and when I took them back he refunded me for the 2 days in the week when the lifts were closed.

We are just back from ADH. Our group hired from "Ze Shop" close to the Office du Turisme at the bottom of the telecentre lift. Booked online via Alpinresorts and we found the shop very efficient and helpful.
