Looking at Easter 2014 and costing up the options at the moment. Which would you choose out of Tignes or Val D'Isere, La Plagne or Les Duex Alpes? Which has best snow record?
I haven been to an of them yet.
Thanks

kitenski, that is good to hear it was snow record I was most concerned given it is likely to be either 5th or 12ty April. Beside that my eldest daughter will be 7 she is doing sprites this Easter with Esprit and did spritelets, so I guess some nice gentle encouraging runs woulda be good. Me and hubby will be on piste I personally at happy sticking to blues and reds. My youngest will be on the nursery slopes as she will be 4.

NickyJ, ok then, this is all IMHO, but Val D'Isere runs home aren't that easy, neither are Les Deux Alpes, so I'd personally go for La Plagne, I think Mark Warner has a ski in/out hotel there virtually opposite some easy runs.....

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Yep I have prices from them in the next week Esprit said their prices will be out next week but the mark Warner ones are coming up pretty good considering it is for a school holiday week.
Thanks for the feed back on the resorts, what about Tignes runs home? Though I would assume that if the runs hqe aren't suitable I would assume the ski school would bring the youngsters down in the lift when the lessons finish?
That is good to know about La Plagne and the location theirs is one of the places I looking at.

Easter is very, very late next year, Good Friday is 18th April and Easter Monday the 21st. Will you be going away at Easter itself or during Easter school holidays, in Cambridgeshire the schools break up on 4th April.

NickyJ, I've not been to Tignes with my kids, and yes you can download in Val and Les Deux Alpes....

Claude B, considering both weeks however as I said the snow record is of primary concern due to how late. The Mark Warner prices are quite a lot cheaper for the week before Easter (coming back on Easter Sunday which has the advantage of only needing 4 days leave and we get a day at home before going back to work, school and nursery.

Les Deux Alpes last Easter unless you fancied doing the Valentin black the best way down was via one of the lifts, the plus side is however warm the spring turns out to be you can find skiing somewhere between the village and the glacier. Last year everything was fine once you got up to 2100 but only any good below the day we had a big overnight snowfall.

davkt, thanks for that. Very much the sort of info I am after as well, I have lost a lot of faith in the reported snow depth records hence why I am after input from people's past experience.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

L2A was even fine in 2011 when many resorts had virtually no snow after the start of April. There was still 1000m skiable from 2600 to 3600m in the afternoon. I've been every Easter since 2007 and will be back this year. It's highly likely in 2014 too but I'd go as soon as the schools finish on 4th.

NickyJ, as long as none of your party are hung up on downloading by lift, L2A should be a very good bet for a late Easter holiday, and a fair bit cheaper than some of the others you mention.

I am favouring Les Deux Alpes, mainly due to having the larger glacier skiing mean odds of having a descent amount of skiing are higher and a shorter transfer time 1hr 45 vs 2hr 45 on the other two. That and slightly cheaper lift passes (though not enough to make a real differentiator on its own). Price front the places I am eyeing up la Plagne and Les Deux Alpes are the same price and Tignes is £100 more.
Anything else I should consider?

I have booked up for Les Deux Alpes going out on 13th April.
For anybody else looking at getting a school holiday week for next year Mark Warner have some reasonable prices (in my book) for going out on the 13th April in accommodation with kids clubs etc.

One of the reasons I was keen to book the week so early was based on the prices I was wondering if MW hand't realised that week was a school holiday week for next season (it is for this season). I have just been onto their website and costed up the same holiday (with the exception that I couldn't get interconnecting rooms anymore) and it came in at £995 more than the price I booked for. I feel vindicated with hubby who at the time was incredulous I was looking at booking next season before we had gone skiing this season.
