Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

One more thing to worry about, almost makes me pleased I don't have piles of deep dry powder to play in at the moment.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I had a similar situation here in Austria once. A friend went head first off the side of the piste into deep snow and just stuck there. If I had not been there I don't think he would have been able to extricate himself. We thought it was really funny at the time, but in retrospect he was lucky, real lucky!

stuarth, it's a darn site more interesting than the SCGB. I suspect we don't get as many real powder days in Europe as our North American friends, even so, most of us who have been skiing a while have had some epic days - and just occasionally weeks of epic powder. TBH, though I was aware of the possible perils of tree wells, I had never considered the possibility of snow immersion otherwise. All the more reason why, if possible, we should make sure that we keep an eye on our buddies when they ski a pitch. An all the more reason to think very carefully before undertaking solo off piste skiing.
