Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ski length- please help

Hi

I am going to purchase the salomon rockette 90 ladies skis. I have tried a few different pairs and these felt right for me. My question is what length should I buy? I would say I am a advanced/intermediate skiier. I will ski all blacks with confidence and can get down most doubles, not always with a great deal of skill but I like to challenge myself. I mainly ski ungroomed, bumps and trees. I am 5 foot 6 and weigh 146 pounds. I have a very dodgy knee and have to ski wearing a ski mojo so I can't go too heavy. I was on 151cm skis but they were the skis I got 4 years ago when I first started. When I tried the rockettes I tried the 153cm and loved them but people have been advising me that I need to go longer because I'm a better skiier now and they are A double rocker. The next size up is 161 cm but the resort I am at has none of that size to trial. I am worried about going longer and not being able to do the quick turns with my bad knee but everyone is telling me I will enjoy the longer ski more. I know nothing about skis so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Jess, if you liked the 153 then buy the 153! If you want a ski that will feel more stable at speed then go longer. To be honest the Rockette is such a soft ski...and its only 8cm at the end of the day, not worth loosing sleep over methinks Very Happy

As for being a double rocker, the rocker on the Sally's again is pretty minimal and wont make a huge difference to length...unlike say our Redeemer ski which has a big splay and makes it feel very loose and manuvrable!
