Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Sending skis / board to France

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Son is working a season in Alp d'Huez. He took his skis with him but is now asking if we can send his board out. Normally I would volunteer to take them but I'm off to Austria and can't take time off work to go to France as well.
So, does anyone have any experience of sending skis / boards abroad?
I have done a bit of research and find that:
Skis2U.co.uk are not operating this service anymore.
Skicarriage.co.uk seem expensive.
Pisteofmind.com don't cover AdH.

Is it best to just use a courier service like DHL? Any views gratefully welcomed, and many thanks in advance.

I would have thought UPS or Parcel force would be the best and simplest solution for a one off delivers.
Earlier this year I sent a pair of ski i flogged on ebay to Germany using parcel force, seemed to work ok..

I am using The Black Run Ski Courier to Morzine in a couple of weeks. They deliver from UK to France and at weekends. Price seemed good. Much cheaper than DHL etc. Sad

Our youngest is out in AdH on a season and she used Andy (the business owner); get's good reviews and we had no problems with him

A fellow snowHead used these guys to get his kit to La Plagne for New Year, was about £50 for a heavy ski bag iirc.

Standee, thanks for that. I had a look at their website but as far as I can see, they don't deliver to Alp d' Huez. They look OK though
I have delayed sending snowboard out as I have been away skiing myself, but I must get this sorted soon

I would suggest calling them, the website looks a bit unreliable (when I clicked on La Plagne it linked to the Tignes drop off points). Plus they must drive somewhere near Lyon to get to the resorts that are listed????!?!?!?

not wanting to jack the thread, but any recommendations for companies that deliver to Austria (Zell am See specifically)?

pisteofmind, deliveriestothealpes, and the Black Run all seem to focus on the same/similar areas of France.
