Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Transfer Advice

Not sure if this is the correct forum forgive me if now but in any case, doing the DIY ski trip this year as in not using a cyrstal, inghams or topflight, I have hotel and flight sorted more or less but the transfer from resort to airport and back is what I need some guidance on. Firstly should I pre-book something and if so can anyone advise me or any good sites. Alternatively has anyone ever left it until they arrive at an airport to start looking for transfer to resort, I know it may not be too bad if you have a group of 7-8 to get a minibus type taxi but for a group of only 4 a taxi could work out a bit expensive or would it? I would welcome any advice on the above. Oh and by the way Flying in to Lyon and heading to Les Deux Alpe during first week of feb!

Hi Glengooly-Guy,

I would highly recommend prebooking your transfers. Taxis at the airport can be hit and miss and will charge more than a prebooked vehicle. You can also compare the quotes with car hire (+petrol, +parking).

If you have a look on www.findtransfers.com and fill in your request then local taxi firms can get back to you within 7 days. Then you can easily compare the quotes and the companies and choose the one that suits you best.

Have a great holiday!

Glengooly-Guy, Transfer page is here http://www.lyonaeroports.com/eng/Home/Access-maps-car-parks/To-come-to-leave-from-the-Airport/Shuttle-to-Alpine-ski-resorts. Round trip by coach would be 58€ - 67€ (it's a bit confusing which) each. I wouldn't imagine a taxi would be any cheaper, it's 2.5 hours at least.

Many thanks to you both. I will have a look into each site over next couple of days

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Glengooly-Guy, for a group of 4, providing you don't have absurd amounts of baggage, hiring a car could well be the cheapest option. Bensbus do cheapish transfers to LDA but only from Grenoble, I think.
