Poster: A snowHead

I was booked onto a 9.40am flight from Innsbruck to Gatwick to come back from a week in Ischgl on Saturday 19 Jan. Easyjet have cancelled this and I can now transfer to any alternative flight on the same route. (as far as I can tell from the information provided)
How much notice do I need to give to confirm which flight I would like to transfer to? (availability permitting)
The outbound flight is on 12 Jan so do I need to confirm the transfer before this? Or can it be done e.g. the day before on 18 Jan?
Just wondering in case it turns out that the forecast for the Saturday is epic and can't be missed.

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

I wouldn't risk the flights being full, so would book ASAP.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I would guess you could do it close to the time but you risk the flight being full (after all, presumably the others on your original flight are filling up places).

Booking a Sunday flight would mean having to find somewhere to sleep on the Saturday night. Worth the hassle and expense if conditions are epic but not much point if they are cr*p.
The availability issue/risk goes without saying, but would like to be in an informed position regarding EJ's policy before making the decision nevertheless. I might attempt to do battle with the options/waiting procedure for their call centre.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Really? I'm actually quite pleased they have cancelled the 9.40am flight. It was the cheapest available over the weekend when I first booked, but meant a very early start. Now I can pick and choose whichever flight suits me best for no additional cost, availability permitting.
Is there a link to EU regs which would explain more?

Somewhere on EJ's website, is a copy of their terms and conditions, which should hopefully give you the definitive answer.
Personally, if I were you I'd re-book on an alternative flight as soon as possible. I suspect your situation is a bit like being 'bumped' off a flight; where you are entitled to an alternative flight to get you home, but don't necessarily get any priority for a seat.

EJ have moved me to the 1105 departure on Sat 19th so as things stand I am booked on a flight home. But I have the option of changing this if I want, for no extra charge.
