Hi folks, so we have had a cracking wee boy!!
We are going to Claviere at the end of January when he will be 6 months old, he will be in afternoon child are 2-5 at a club hotel ran by Crystal.
The thing is, what do we take for him, do we need a car seat for him in the transfer etc? Any tips would be useful.
I know this has prob been asked thousands of time but didn't want to trawl through the forum!

Congratulations. Sorry cant answer your question though, when we went with an infant we didn't though they were both over 1 both times. When we used private transfers we have had car seats provided but TO buses haven't.

Your transfer to Claviere will most probabaly be by coach, so that makes it up to you, I would say. I don't think anyone will supply car seats and you will have to have the baby on your lap for the flight.
I was at the Grand Claviere last January and really enjoyed it. The staff were superb last year.

another vote for the club hotel - been there three years running ( last jan being the third)
childcare really good, they get well looked after .
if you need a car seat you will need to take your own, dont forget to take a buggy ( maclaren foldups are the best ) , and get the buggy carrier thing that goes with it
you can stuff it full of supplies ( nappies etc) as it files on its own , and is not part of you weight limit.
also pack a spare set of wark clothes with it and seperate from your bags , so if something goes astray you are likely to have clothes.
you will have a great time claviere is a good resort with access to lots of skiing

So should we take a car seat for the transfer or have him on our lap? Have got a maclaren fold away push chair sorted.

depends who you're flying with but most airlines we've used when our kids were really small took the car seat without any extra charge (ryanair being the only exception). in fact, the best airline for allowing us loads of kiddy-extras for free have been easyjet.

If you are wanting to take it to use on the coach transfer? I would be surprised if the coaches will be fitted with appropriate seat belts to be able to fit it. In My experience you normally only have lap belts.

Take the car seat, even Easyjet let you take two items of child shite with you. Really don't travel mountain roads with a 6 month old on your lap.
It's far easier to have the baby in a sling than a pushchair through the airport. They're handy for settling them on the plane as well.
Not skiing specific info but - Put a change of clothes and nappies/wipes in a separate plastic bag you can quickly grab out of your hand luggage.
Feed him on takeoff and landing.
If it all goes tits up on the plane remind yourself that it is but a moment, and it will pass (then don't make eye contact with anyone else).
Balloons are a good thing to keep them amused and take up very little space.
Mittens are easier than gloves for kids that small.
Get an all in one snow suit that covers the feet as well.
I think that's it but truly, at that age they're pretty easy to travel with.

remember that in most cases - baby will travel on your lap in the plane so the seat will go in the hold
make sure its labelled up properly with all your details
I would have thought a good sling more useful
also dont forget that the liquid limit will apply , any made up feeds need to be less that 100ml each

No they don't that is one of the up sides of travelling with an infant, you do however need to be able to drink from all containers of liquid greater than 100ml which you take through security.

Avago, it does, but we have been told by loads of people to take a cheap push chair as they get wrecked chucked around in the hold etc!

FAQ
Sling would also be invaluable with a waterproof all-in-one snowsuit and don't forget little sunglasses. If you are taking a travel cot, you can fill it with nappies, wipes etc when it's folded 
However, I don't know how you'd fix a car seat into a coach seat with no safety belts. I'd ask the TO - they must have this question asked all the time, as very few parents would take their babies in a vehicle without the right seat (which will be rear facing at that age?)
