When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

How to buy and sell travel insurance

I've just a had a call from a friend who sells high-quality travel insurance. Sometimes he sells it at the very last minute to people who are minutes away from leaving the country.

It's important to remember - of course - that once you've departed your home country, some aspects of travel insurance are affected. It may not be so easy to get the cover, or you may not be able to buy it at all ...

... So, anyway, this guy is at Heathrow departures terminal yesterday and he rings my friend (who I'll call Tommy Cooper) and says "Can you sell me some ski cover, because I'm about to go through passport control?"

So my friend - who happens to be on a train at this point - says "Look, I'm on a train. Sorry, I can't sell it to you right now."

So I said to Tommy "Why didn't you stick it on a trolley?"
