Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Do I need socks similar or identical to the ones used for boot fitting?

Please excuse my total ignorance, but I'm about to have my first boots with heated liners fitted. I assume I wear my socks at some point during the fitting process, so does it make a difference if I then buy new socks??? Puzzled

My current socks are Falke SK4 pro race, but I want to ask for some more socks for Christmas and I thought it would be nicer to let the giver choose from a short list. So should I ask for just more SK4s or are there other socks (which please?) that are similar enough that it won't be a problem for the boot fit? Was looking at some thin Teko ones that had merino in them, but I'm sure there are loads of possibilities if they don't have to be identical.

Many thanks as always. (I'm looking forward to the point in the future where I will be able to start answering Qs rather than just asking them!!!) Smile

HelenS, so long as they're thin it won't affect the boot fit. However, you might miss the special padding you get with the Falke's. I find the Teko's too thick in comparison but my finace prefers his Teko's to Falke. Different strokes'n'all.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Think SK4 are really thin? I use exclusively SK2 now (got enough for Christmas to get me thru a whole week with extra day at each end). My SK1's are far too bulky to fit. Fraction of a mm makes a difference to me, but may not matter to others. At €25/pr I'd rather stick with what I know works, than try something different.

I took SK2 for the fitting but actually used whichever sock the fitter had, which was basically the same thickness but without all the posh Falke padding.

You do not need to buy socks 1 size smaller than you had before.

I was always told to put a clean pair of socks on each day. By day 4 I could hardly get my boots on. Boom boom.
