Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hi,

I hope I can draw on your collective wisdom Smile

I fancy doing some skiing in the nearby hills, but for various reasons (mainly expense, slightly because this is something I'll do on the odd day off, plus a contrarian streak) I don't want to invest in touring kit. So my alternative is to humph my alpine stuff up on my back and ski down. I've been looking at a few bags that are on US ebay, like this:

or this:

but struggling to find similar things from UK suppliers. Any ideas?

I think it's all about the Dakine Boot pack:

Looks smart and fits everything in. Under £60

You could just strap your skis to the side of your rucksack, one on each side, with the boots clipped into the bindings. Lots of rucksacks have 'compression straps' that will enable you to do this.

You'd have much more fun in Scotland with touring kit though.

Don't forget about the risk of avalanches.

Thanks for all the suggestions. A snowhead has offered me a backpack that fits the bill so going with that.

Have not ruled out touring when funds permit it Smile
