Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Just how 'fit' do you have to be to do an off piste course ?

I've got a week off in March and was thinking of doing an off piste course, as have never really ventured off piste and would really like to get to grips with it (aiming to go to Japan soon)
Just how much extra effort is off piste skiing compared to on piste, am a reasonable skier, level 6, I guess.
Am getting back into running as due to a shoulder op recovery can't use the mountain bike, so if I can run 5km in 30 mins am I heading in the right direction ?
Cheers as don't want to book a course and be too unfit for it !!

That really depends on what sort of course you book yourself onto so is impossible to say. If you look at the UCPA course the never ever before off piste course looks quite doable as long as you are capable of doing a full days skiing. It's not billed as strenuous.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

, To ski off-piste you have to be quite fit, stamina is important compared to on piste. If your technique is very strong you can get away with being less fit, but start to fall and you will need to be fit. So I would go to your local snowdome and practice rounded speed control turns and get ski fit as well.
