Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Open group guiding days

Currently looking into some options and plans for this ski season. Have a ski touring week planned for early april, but want more snow Happy. Some friends invited me to join for a week mid-January-eager to go, but really want to do some off-piste days too - conditions permitting. No destination picked yet, so can influence the decision wink. Probably a lesser known/smaller resort in France due too budget (Maurienne valley, Grand Massif, Serre Chavalier)

Will be the only freerider and cannot afford solo guiding, do you guys know any off-piste guiding companies where I could join a open group for a couple of days? Have done quite a few days with Piste to Powder in St. Anton and found this a great way to ski off-piste as a solo traveller!

Suggestions very appreciated!

I think you are more likely to find this sort of thing in larger resorts such as Val d'Isere, which has lots (Alpine Experience or TopSki are good). Not many people ski off piste in the Haute Maurienne, which is its attraction.
Evolution 2 operate in several Tarrentaise resorts - they may do open groups but I'm not sure. Anyone know?

Thanks Snowball! Just found this article (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/snowandski/8996929/Off-piste-skiing-guide-best-resorts-and-guides.html), which includes your recommendations. More options welcome though.

Eyeopener, yes, those look like good choices in the article. I nearly mentioned Piste to Powder: they are good but a bit expensive.

The Val d'Isere groups (plus others there not mentioned) compete so keep their prices down. Alpine Experience are a more democratically organised break-away from Top Ski. Many of the guides are native English speakers and they attract an English-speaking clientele. TopSki attract more French speakers but their top group tends to be at a higher standard, which might matter if you like steeper slopes.
