I'm in Lincoln, so places like Nottingham, Sheffield, castle ford all within fairly easy reach.
Other option is to wait till I'm in resort and go to The Boot Lab in courchevel 1650. Are they mega expensive?
Not sure which would be better, here or in resort.

binkacat, Been to Boot Lab OK was mid/late season, but stock not great in choice of manufacturer and was suitably pricey, but no more so than fitter in England. In resort you can ski it back and have adjusted would be my thought and again until is fits, particularly if you have funny feet. (needing blowing or structural change to boot)

Rivlington Alpine in Chorly or Lockwoods in Leamington Spa are probably your closest specialist fitters, Ellis Brigham at Tamworth did a good job for me and in general the ones in the domes seem OK so worth trying EB at Castleford if you know enough to tell if the fitter knows what they are doing. A bit further afield Solutions4feet in Bicester are about the best regarded fitters on here and as good as boot fitters get.

binkacat, there's nowt in Nottingham & S&R in Sheffield burnt down a few months ago - which'll save many people from buying boot two sizes too big  . EB's at Castleford have a good range but you must ONLY book an appointment with Julian & avoid anyone else. Gavin & Tom at the Boot Lab are good guys, especially if you're going early season when they have a lot of stock. Although it's a bit further it's an easy journey from you to have an appointment withCEM/Solutions4feet at Bicester (A46/M1/A43) & will be well worth it.

Do solutions4feet charge for their fitting service as well as for the actual boots do you know?
I'm not going to courchevel till the middle of march so there might be a full range of stock left. I'm just a bit nervous about buying boots without actually skiing in them. I know when my husband got some n Tignes years ago he skied in them for a morning before he decided they were ok.

The one problem you may have is that someone like solutions 4 feet will not sell you something that does not work. Unlikely given his range, but not impossible.

yes i agree unless you have spent 3 hours driving there, and have 3 hours drive home. However i would rather waste a day and be told where to go and what to buy rather than, these will do you mate......
which is what you will gett from a proper fitting session, either at a respected shop or a custom boot fitter, rather than.
"red ones in size 10 sir, no problem we can do that"

You could also try Backcountry UK in Ilkley. In travel time, it's probably no worse than going to Leamington. They know what they are doing and they take their time to get it right. My Scarpas bought there last season are an excellent fit.

There's hardly anywhere in East Midlands now. I can only think of Decathlon at junction 26 and Sportability at Chesterfield. Two Seasons seem to have ditched skiing and kept snowboarding but are now largely a skate shop. For this very reason I'll be buying my next boots in resort.
