Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

TRAVEL SIM CARDS

Checked on snowHead 's 'Search', but didn't find any reference to Travel Sim cards for use abroad. Has this been covered before? Or has anyone any experience of these Travel Sim cards?

I need something like this for longish use in France, around 5 months. I have come across 'sim4travel' which the sim card costs £29.95, with local calls and calls to UK land lines @ £0.32 per minute on a pay-as-you-go basis. (€5,00 free credit!) No charge for receiving calls in France which is a BIG bonus compared with my current 02 service!

Have any snowHead 's used these, or another provider to good effect? To such good effect that you would recomend them! snowHead

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Bernard Condon,There's also http://www.oneroam.co.uk/ http://www.gosim.com/ http://www.0044.co.uk/ http://www.ecoworldcom.de/ecoworld/frameindex.php?id_bereich=10&id_nr=0 http://www.ratebuster.co.uk/index.php plus there's muttering that Vodaphone has something in the near pipeline that'll undercut the competition
If you're going to be staying in one location and have access to BB then a VOIP service will be best for general communication (even over satellite) and use a local PAYG SIM for general use.

It is a huge minefield of inter relational charging at the minute and it's a complete pain in the butt to work out what's the best option.

But if you want to be cheeky and will be near a WIFI access point a laptop and headset will give you very cheap international calls with VOIP. wink

One of the cheap SIM abroad packages (can't remember which?) require you to phone a number in Luxembourg before they connect you. I know when I looked into it for Switzerland, it worked out best to buy a local pay as you go sim.
