My first international flight ever was from Southend many years ago, when Big Louis and other similar planes carried cars across the channel. I am glad its back to being an international airport.

Sounds great. I live very close to the airport so I hope to benefit soon too. First chance was this summer when flying to Malaga but BA was cheaper from Gatwick!

Flight times look good if you do Saturday to Saturday
Pity driving to it is such a pain. I wish they would build a decent road to get there rather than have to crawl through all that heavy traffic around SOuthend itself. Train station looks like it could be a handy alternative though I don't know how frequent the trains are?
And have they got a decent bar/pub at the airport yet rather than that rubbish cafe/bar place? I could see they were still doing some building work on site but I don't know how this is progressing

jimmybog, its on the main liverpool street line and i think 8 trains per hour... didnt stop for a beer but the terminal looked quite good.

You'd be crackers not to take the train really, the train price isn't hiked either like Stanstead or Heathrow express.
