I think Woodsy still has a bit of media training to do before he is positioned as a "serious" athlete.
Slightly misleading for the armchair viewer dwelling on his No 1 ranking. AIUI it's because he won the first WC event of the season in Argentina not because like tennis or golf he's achieved the highest positions on average over the previous year.

fatbob, You appear to be ignoring his DEW tour results. For the past two years. He is number one on the points and comfortably top 10 and in reality top 5.
Add to this that he is a genuinely nice lad who makes tons of time for upcoming athlets

Fattes13, I'm sure he's a great lad and have no doubt that he's up there in the mix. He's shown 8th on the AFP world rankings for last season which is pretty good but behind guys like Wallisch, Brown & Kenworthy who I'd expect to feature on any US Olympic team.
Still a great achievement but I just felt the BBC were over simplifying things.

fatbob, He has beaten both Brown and Wallisch in competition on more than one occasion. Considering how hard he is judged he never has a home judge at the table! It really does add to what he is doing. He actually trains with Brown daily during hte winter to and remember he is 20!!! Brown has 2 years on him right now.
I have money on him medalling at Sochi I got 500/1 (Prior to slope style being a confirmed event.) I have promised him at least ½ for a charity of his choice if it comes through.

Fattes13, how much did you get on?
He's a genuinely nice lad that seems to have time for everyone! It's nice to see this side of skiing coming through as well!

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

I have faith in the boy. He is back in Breckinridge and had his first rail session of the season yesterday and seems quite positive about it.

 You know it makes sense.

Fattes13, Good for him. Not sure why the humble pie is necessary my issue was in the trite reporting of a particular ranking as a firm indicator of Olympic prospects. X Games will be the marker point for sure although I remain sceptical as to how much the judging is influenced by the "story" ESPN wish to to spin. Will certainly help him pick up sponsors and funding through to Sochi.
