Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

South Korea - Yongpyong - Anyone tried it?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I'm thinking of slipping in a sneaky three-day recon trip to Yongpyong in mid December before sweating my proverbials off in Australia for xmas.

1. Has anyone ever been there?

2. What were your thoughts?

3. Any traps for young players?

1/. I went there once.
2/. mid December might be a bit too early to go. The ski season in Korea is relatively short - mid December to end Feb / early March, Snow is on the icy side, Very crowded at weekend. Runs fairly short and non-interesting. Hotel offers ski-in ski-out facility. Rental equipment is poor, so bring your own. IMO, it is a poor man's alternative to Japan.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Thanks for the response Crusader. That's pretty much what I've heard before and what I've been expecting. That being said most people most I know who've been there have a had a good time so hopefully it won't be too disappointing...

I was living in Korea last year and visited Yongpyong a couple of time, its ok for a day but anything more and i expect it would get very repetitive. You could make a tour of the other ski areas for a bit of variety and most operate bus services from Seoul. Also, as crusader mentions the weekends do get very busy and some of the locals simply fly down the pistes without much control, a friend was stretchered off the mountain last year after somebody ran into the back of them.
