Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

A snowHead
Looks like the gate takes a whacking,
but his forearm seems well shielded. Interestingly, looking at the snow sprayed from the ski edges, the inner ski looks to be pressured at least as much as the outer ski.
The shot is by Jonathan Selkowitz, on the US Ski Team website. It was taken recently, during the team's summer training in Chile.

Great photo...
here's a local (Les Arcs) young racer
- just 18 in this photo - who hopes to be taking Bode on
this year in GS
... he was a touch late at this gate, but I just like the position, amazing to think you can recover to stay in the race from that angle.
He raced in a couple of World Cup Giant Slaloms last year, said it was an amazing experience to be taking on the Millers and Maiers - and really hard to relax and race 'normally'. Hope he does well this year.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Couple of short video trailers about Bode, one from his "Flying Downhill",

David - i've been doing a bit of training for the basi speed test, it seems gs is all about the angle of the body and edge to 'whip' you from gate to gate as fast as possible. Pressure doesn't really come into it and might slow you down...you needed pressure with the straight skis to bend them in order to turn..the new ones of course have got ready made curves. Bode's photo has to be about as good as you can get - he's awesome.....
Getting into this racing thing just a bit depressing when most 14 year old french racers make me look distinctly average though!!!
