Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Large self-catering gite/apartment/chalet for appsox 22 people

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Anyone have any ideas for a group of six families. We want to go towards the non-luxury end; driving and self-catering (so don't want a catered chalet).

Not too fussed what resort since we know that we will be limited by the accomodation we can find. We also don't mind (and to get the prices we are looking for we expect) to drive a few kms to lifts each morning.

Many thanks for any suggestions people might have.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

TheManOnTheBus, you'd struggle to find anywhere with space for 22 people to cook and eat together, but if you'd be interested in somewhere where you could rent a range of apartments (one sleeps up to 13 and would be very cheap if all occupied) in a building with a big communal area, ping pong table, space for kids to play, table for adults to sit round with a glass of wine and a bowl of peanuts, this might be of interest.

I am organising a big party there at Easter next year. Right next to chairlift, as you can see, and also there's a free rope beginners lift. The apartments are quite roomy, by French standards, not luxurious but clean and well cared for. The tarifs on the website are still last year's. I have this year's, from the managing company - they're just up a little but still good value.

It's the big building just to the left of the piste. Ski and boot room at the back - walk out onto the piste, or easy access for kids to play in the snow, safely off the piste.

After ski hours there's good toboganning for kids. 185kms of lift-linked pistes. Small supermarket, restaurant, ski hire shop, all very close.

Les Saisies as recommended by pam w, is a lovely resort - highly recommended.

We have a few places that sleep up to 20 (eg in Samoens) or chalets split into self-catering apartments that could potentially sleep up to 23 but maybe a bit expensive. Have you considered several apartments close to each other in good value resorts. This may work just as well unless eating together is an essential criteria.

Very much depend on date you are interested in too - if New Year or Half-Term and probably Easter start looking now for winter 13/14. Will all have been booked-up for some time for this season.

Thanks, to all. We are now sorted - a place in Champagny en Haut (which seems to have quite a few at this type of size - we stayed in another place there last year). We would have liked to try somewhere new, but - apart from C e H - they do seem few and far between at the prices we are looking at anyway (cheap!). We are 5KM from the lifts, but that is fine as we are all driving down anyway.
