Poster: A snowHead

Do they even exist? Where can I see them if they do?
Had crap luck with snow the last couple of years, and am dead keen on a Chamonix trip this time around but also would like some indication of the predicted snowfall for the season.
Any clues as to where to find a long range forecast for Europe this season?

joe1890, I wouldn't bother worrying, an awful lot of time and effort has been put into long range forecasting but it is still embryonic IMHO. You will be bombarded by a lot of science a lot of which is not much better than some of the weather lore that our graet grandparents spoke of! With my experience I only start beleiving forecast about 6 days out - a little more if there is a dominant high pressure system.

Long range forecasts do exist... but you may as well call them long range guesswork. Completely useless and unreliable.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I do rather enjoy the old farmers anecdotal "snails all heading west on the fourth Wednesday in September means a lot of snow in January" type forecasts.
