Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

2 adults and a 4 year old - how difficult can it be?

Hello All,
Please help before I launch my phone / laptop across the room.
Which company is the best / easiest to deal with to get a holiday for 2 adults and a 4 year old.
I just want a one stop shop to book everything (except ski hire)!
Not fussed on country.
Going 23rdish December.

Any ideas?

Esprit seems to be pretty good for family deals.

I have tried Esprit - they want to charge me more for an empty bed, than the cost of taking my son. That's just rude!

CarlT, if one small chap needs his own room, I guess it gets expensive!

You could try Club Med - they would probably include the ski hire! There was an enthusiastic report on Club Med last year.

I have not asked for a room for him - he will be in with us! Just lost the will to live with the Club Med website.

CarlT, Ok, I know you want a one stop shop but, if that fails, suggest http://www.kinderhotels.co.uk/2-pid338-baer-hotel-austria-serfaus-en.html

Really recommend Serfaus. Get easyjet to Innsbruck and sorting out a transfer is easy (about an hour). Great kiddie facilities on the slopes and in that hotel.

CarlT, we go with Esprit a lot.

Can you wait for last minute offers- they are very good - especially out of the few peak weeks.

CarIT, I know you said you want a one stop shop but if you book a hotel direct you will get a MUCH better deal on price for your son. I found that my daughter could often stay for FREE under 5 or at a much more heavily discounted price than with a TO. A lot of ski hotels have really good facilities for kids anyway Smile

Have you tried Mark Warner (phone them rather than just try and do it online) as they may be able to accomodate your request more easily

we've just booked with Snowtrex, all done online, we're driving but friends of ours have booked the same holiday and included their flights online, only thing for them to sort is transfers/car hire.
never booked with them before so we'll see how thing run but the booking was as simple as i've ever known and any questions answered on the phone.
really cheap deal as well £195 each including lift passes, our is self catering but they do have plenty of hotels online as well.

Jnr is a bit older now, but when he was younger we used Crystal with their childcare and never had any problems.

If finding anything yourself is seeming difficult Carl you could always go to a travel agents. Some of the larger ones will have a ski specialist working there.
Inghams have been good for us in recent years, we even got a free kids place over Christmas, although I'm not sure if they have a childcare service (if you need it).

CarlT, try booking with 3 kids! Would echo Bode Swiller, comments re Serfaus. After 2st 2 ski holidays with the kids I've always gone independent. Austrian hotels are great for kids and normally 50% discount min at that age.

+1 for this being rude! Similar happened to me, they wanted to charge me a ridiculous supplement for half an unoccupied sofa bed Shocked They really take the mickey with all their supplements. In this case we told them we wouldn't pay it and they could take the booking or not, it was on a late deal summer holiday. They took it. Glad I didn't pay the supplement as the sofa bed was barely adequate for one 4 year old never mind two possibly much older kids.

Try snowbizz, they are very good indeed and have a fantastic attitude to customer care. Also been happy with neilson's family hotel in les deux alpes and crystal too though their accommodation was shabby. I haven't used (due to nearly always going with a large group who end up not agreeing) but been very very impressed with the customer service of ski famille, family friendly ski company, the family ski company and peak retreats. IMO Esprit have a very arrogant attitude, the end product is good but dealing with them is unpleasant.

Good luck snowHead

We find that with one child, (12yrs) you pay very nearly full price and she gets a "fold up or sofa bed" in the same room. The amount of proper 3 bed rooms is very small.
I don’t mind (well I do really) paying adult price for flight and transport, she takes a seat after all but I do object to her not having a proper bed. So we tend to go in a 2 bedroom apartment and self-cater.

Try Le Ski in La Tania - they have triple rooms which we used with Daughter when she was 4 and 5. Plus Ski Beat in Plan Peisey had a triple room that we used with daughter when she was 3.

Don't give up with Club Med if the website sucks - just phone them or go via a travel agent. We had a really great time with them in Feb and are booked up with them again for 2013...our kids continue to say it was the best week's holiday they have ever had.

presumebly that is because they were costing you for a room for 4. Be worth trying a different location / accomodation with them. If you interested in St Anton the place I have booked with them Pepi Gabl has a good number of rooms for 3.

CarlT,

What are you intending to do with your lad? Creche, kids snow club thing, proper ski school etc?

You can find hotels with a free creche service.

My 4 year old daughter struggled with ski school and didn't enjoy it, but she loved the kids snow club thing - just messing about on skis with the maqic carpet with the toys and the odd snowmobile ride up the noddy piste.
