Poster: A snowHead
|
Hello, booked to go to Flaine in Feb 2013 half term. Going to book kids into morning ski school with ESI (based on previous posts). Looking to get some private lessons for OH as she is nervous 30+ beginner. Does anyone know if you can get private lessons that run in the morning and possibly recommend a good instructor?? Thanks

you could try this lot too - http://www.skiflainemoniteurs.com/
I've not used them, but I see them from time to time in Les Saisies, when they come over from Flaine (presumably in search of better snow and/or quieter pistes ). I've seen them with a number of very small groups of Brits, and from observation they're very good - I did have a quick word on a chairlift with one of the customers, , who said she found them excellent - she was a nervous 60+ beginner and said she'd gained lots of confidence.

We have used both Lynne Stainbrook and ski flaine moniteurs and was very happy with both.
My wife was/is new to skiing and was very nervous. She found the way Lynne teaches helped to calm her nerves and has given her so much more confidence. We will be retuning to flaine in 2013 with further lessons with Lynne one of the key reasons. Last season he charged 55 euros for an hour lesson for 1-2 people. I initially tagged along so I could see how my wife was doing but found it so useful I attended them all. As someone who has skied for a long time (badly) it was a bit strange to start with but I have to say it has really improved the way I ski and made it even more enjoyable.

LDM, 55 euros is almost as expensive as a lesson on plastic!

Flaine is an expensive place and that's the most expensive time of year.

I must be out of touch with European ski school prices, as I was thinking "wow, that's a pretty good price for a private lesson with a recommended instructor" (especially if you can get a second person included).

skisimon, outside the February holidays a private lesson in Les Saisies, for 2 hours, for up to 3 people, costs 62 euros. There are, of course, plenty of more expensive options .

Considering the progress my wife (and I) have made I think it is money well spent and to be honest a bargain!
He has a great way of explaining things. He mainly stays to one or two slopes where he says most things can be taught but is more than happy to take you elsewhere if there is something specific you want to learn how to tackle.
