Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

La Grave

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Took Wednesday and Thursday off with a view to finally ski La Grave. Reports of 70cm at the top had wet the appetite....

Wednesday morning from the window of the Castillan

The fabled La Meije

Alas due to the wind it was only open up to P2...

Hiked up to a nice couloir above P2

Traversed to look at the Freaux couloir but snow was already too heavy in the warm wind. Still nice on rockered skis

Did a few laps through the forest on the Chancel side

Alas the Vallons side had turned to porridge so down for some liquid refreshment. Repeat too many times...

Alas Tim's prayers for calm weren't answered

And on Thursday morning the wind got worse and they shut everything. Have to try again next year....

Nice! Conditions didn't look too bad for the time of year. Les Freux Couloir is a nigh on 800m vertical of 40 deg or so gully running straight down the fall line. A real thigh burner, it's a shame the conditions weren't so good for that. Thanks for posting; love the place and this gets me in the mood for March snowHead

Now that got me really confused before I looked at the date of the OP, thought the lift had opened early and I know the hotels are not open yet Puzzled

Anyway this below just in from Pelle at the Skiers Lodge....

Though must not forget the Edelweiss Hotel http://www.hotel-edelweiss.com/ who will be sending out there newsletter shortly, when they get back from Thailand and send me the text to compile into their email newsletter Smile

Dear Skier's
It's that time of year!

Winter is approaching and our thoughts are turning towards deep powder turns and backcountry ski adventures.
We already have a great snow base from the glacier down to the valley floor. In fact there is approx. 4 meter of snow on the glacier. It looks really good and better than we ever hoped for. More snow predicted during the end of this week!

Thank you to those of you who skied with us last year and all the previous years.
We hope that you will join us again 2014.
