Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Resort suggestion - pre-Easter 2013 - group of mixed inability

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Finished skiing for this year (apart from some trips to Ponty in the summer - thankfully it's open for a few sessions per week), so the only thing to do is to think of next year's hols.

Welsh schools start their Easter hols a week earlier than English schools, so we are looking to go then (23 March or thereabouts).

Looking for somewhere as snow-sure as you can be. Group is potentially 8 people.

4 absolute beginners (2 adults, 2 kids), 2 lower inter adults (ESF Grade 2'ish - parallel skid turns, no carving) and 2 inter kids.

Would prefer lessons in the morning for all and then afternoons mucking around together.

Open to any suggestions, but would like somewhere with decent apres ski (decent for old git parents, that is....) and would quite like an Austrian or Italian resort (would make a nice change from France).

Would be good to keep the costs down, so considering good value SC or 1/2 board.

Cheers

Dobby

Obertauern might do the trick?

Snow sure. Friendly apres.

nozawaonsen, Obertauern was recommended by a mate, too. Definitely one to consider.

dobby, La Thuile would suit very well for skiing at that time but the apres is seriously quiet there. Ischgl would have lively apres but a bit harder to keep the prices down. Possibly Solden or Cervinia to consider? Not been to either but probably pretty solid mid/late season bets with a reputaton for apres.

dobby, not sure where this would sit on your price bracket, but this is a fine little hotel.

Great little bar, with super party atmosphere, very close to the piste (almost ski in out if I remember correctly...), has it's own ski school.

+1 la thuile, apres not exactly hard core but the pub next to planibel is friendly, gets reasonably busy and gives away nibbles. Reasonably priced, good tuition, range of pistes good for beginners and intermediates, ski school was good value, Pila and courmayeur also easily accessible on same ticket.

Choose a smallish resort. no point in paying for more than you are going to need. Somewhere nice in the Silvretta Nova (Austria) - Gaschurn, St Gallenkirch...or Obergurgl or Solden...or how about Courmayeur in Italy. Austria is a load cheaper than France, but often ski school is all day. The resorts near Sauze D'Oulx (Italy) would also suit but Sauze itself is a bit raucous for old gits! Badgastein is also recommended. Soll/Scheffau (Skiwelt) may also suit.
