Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

shopping for gf's first trip

I'm going to Tignes on 22nd for 4 days and it's my girlfriends first trip away.

I've got plenty of gear but she has nothing, so needs to buy some skiwear.
Although there's plenty of deals online, you can't try it on to know if it fits. so we popped up to local(ish) outlet and also into a couple of independent ski shops.

a few hours later and she comes home with just a pair of sunglasses Sad although she does now have a clue on each companies sizing (massively different) so can order online.

on the plus side, I came home with a new Tog24 softshell that matches my Head iTitans Happy
and a new Scott ski jacket that doesn't but would go nicely with some iMagnums

Neville, can you borrow some gear for her first trip? Could get to be a pretty expensive 4 day trip.... If it would fit I've got stuff I could lend her, size 10 pants, 12 jacket

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Neville, for a first trip, you don't know if she's going to like it. I'd start somewhere like this: http://www.skiwear4less.com/acatalog/Ladies_First_Time_Skiing.html - partly because it is really cheap, and you won't have lost much if she doesn't go for it.

If you can't kit her out in Dare 2 Be for cheap, get a new girlfriend. It will be cheaper in the long run wink

Come on, Neville, even girlies don't buy kit to match their skis...do they? (or handbags to match their cars?) Or have I got it really wrong all these years?

I disagree with almost all of this, she wont like the first time anyhow. She will be too self aware of how awkward she looks on slope.

Venusian logic at its best dictates even though she doesnt look good on skis, she still needs to "look good on skis" - it is pointles to resist such watertight reasoning.

If you do kit her out in Dare 2 Be -or something else equally cheap - you probably will end up with a new girlfriend.

If you kit her out in some thing that she likes and feels good in , she will need to find an excuse to wear it , which means another ski trip. Laughing

Simples. Cool

The only question the remains is , if you think she is worth it Puzzled - something I cannot comment on.

Mountian Warehouse had some silly cheap stuff recently. Good jackets - £20, troosers £15, Snow boots £15. Nice quality too.

base layers 2 for 1 and reduced to £7.99.. and the nicest ones I've worn for a while (need to go one size up though). My teenagers have worked their way up their range and the top level stuff is great quality. It seems to fit taller people better. Their trousers are more boarder style (baggy) than I like. The kids like them like that.
