Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Skiing after cortisone injection

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
My winter long fight with a bulging disc and sciatica is slightly easing. I can now cycle for 1hr gently or walk a mile. Probably about 50% mobility. worse in evenings. All the advice i have is to keep mobile and keep gently excercising.

I am going to have a cortisone injection on Wednesday into the affected area of my spine.

Am I silly even contemplating going for a gentle weeks skiing with the kids on Sunday???
Looking to fly, car hire, tignes. Possibly find SKI In Ski out to prevent lugging skis around too much.

Any advice appreciated

I would have thought the most difficult part of the week would be the cramped flight and car journey - skiing will be therapeutic as long as you don't hammer moguls or off-piste.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I usually get told to give it 2 days rest after a cortisone jab, usually I get bored of that on the bus home from the hospital! Unless your doc forbids it or YOU feel worse than usual, in my experience (so far 4 jabs) don't sweat it. Very Happy

Cortisone is good for aggression when slalom racing in the first few days after; I try to remember after my usual 6 spine injections for thoracic pain not to get into any altercations for at least a week. Although I forgot again last month and was my resulting back bottom*ole self.

I would point out if you are going to have them regularly say every two months, one of the side effects can be thinning of your hair, i.e. it loses weight.
