Poster: A snowHead

Hi all,
We're looking to organise a DIY trip for Jan 2013 - hoping for the 3V area. Can anyone recommend a chalet for 10-12 of us?
Thanks

Depends on your budget, really. I've stayed in the chalet Sequoia/Riders Lodge in Val Thorens twice in the last three years. Fairly basic, but decent grub, ski to and from the ski locker door (well, you have to cross a road on the way back) and across the road from all the bars.
As a general rule I'd say much of the holiday experience, in chalets anyway, is down to the quality of the chalet hosts. The ones we had two years ago were great, in fact we're still friends with them. This year's were more than adequate and we still enjoyed the holiday, but not nearly as much as 2010.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

cheese, We have a choice of chalets, catered and s/c, in La Tania, any of which would accommodate your group but much depends on what else you are looking for, budget, dates (we are already fully booked for peak weeks including New Year) - if of interest, send me a PM and I'm happy to help

I've stayed in most of the Ski Beat chalets in Meribel. They're nice.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

For 3V I've always stayed with Silver Lining Chalets http://www.silverliningchalets.co.uk/ just below Les Menuires.
It's a small independent run by the people who own it, so great service and good value. The only downside is that it's not as central as, e.g. Meribel, but its much cheaper than anything at the Courchevel end, and right next to some of the best skiing in the whole area (IMHO): Le Masse.

Can highly recommend Skiamis and Powder N Shine - if you are booking in jan wait for a late deal - even if there are 10 - 12 of you - I always do.

Not sure what's DIY if you're in a chalet? By the time you've paid for flights and transfers you quite possibly might as well go with a TO (financially).
Alpineaction are a small independent that are in Meribel/La Tania whom I've been with and recommend. http://www.alpineaction.co.uk/prices-winter-12-13.htm

If you want catered then try Ski Hame - www.skihame.co.uk - a couple of loverly chalets in meribel and 4 in la tania. Small owner run business with friendly feel
if you want to self-cater then I can recommend http://www.montagnettes.com/hiver-en/destinations in both courchevel and les menuires (I haven't stayed at their place in VT). Courchevel is a couple of minute walk to the slopes, slightly uphill but kit lockers available at the lift station. Les Menuires is ski in/out to the corner of the development

Whilst not a chalet, last year a group of us had a great time at Hotel Telemark in La Tania. They offer good value catered accomodation and can be booked on a nightly basis so good for DIY type ski holidays. I also have a write up of it on my new website

Ski Power have several chalets of appropriate size for your group. Mostly in La Tania. I've only stayed with them once but was very impressed. I think they offer significant discounts if a whole chalet is booked. http://www.skipower.co.uk/Chalets.asp
